The program’s philosophy is based on:
-
Involving the local community represented by the local industries in reducing unemployment and poverty among workers
-
Reactivating the available manpower according to qualifications and skills, including facilitating women’s insertion in the labor market
-
Enabling the unemployed to provide for their basic needs with dignity and depend on themselves instead of relying on assistance
-
Enabling local industries to continue producing despite of the closures
The program meets both the need of workers for employment, and the need of employers for workers.
It provides time-limited job opportunities in order to combat the immediate concern of continuously increasing unemployment. Helping people to feed, close, house, educate and provide health care to their families while holding their head high is an absolute priority to preserve the social fabric.
At the same time, it supports the development of local production, working to reduce the production costs of factories, workshops and companies by covering part of workers’ wages.
Through sustaining local production, our job creation projects adopt both an emergency relief and a developmental approach. Moreover, employers benefiting from the projects have to respect basic rights guaranteed by the Palestinian labor law.
